Chinese Government Scholarship for Postgraduate Students

In order to increase the cooperation and understanding between the people of China and other countries, develop outstanding international talent，South China University of Technology (SCUT) is opening applications for full-time postgraduate studies under the 2009 Chinese government scholarship program.

Ⅰ. ELIGIBILITY

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals and be in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:

- Applicants studying to earn a Master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants studying to earn a Doctorate degree must have a Master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

Ⅱ. DETAILS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP (FULL SCHOLARSHIP)

1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation;
2. Monthly Living allowance:

 Master’s degree students: CNY 1,700 yuan      - Doctorate degree students: CNY 2,000 yuan

1. Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
2. A one-off settlement subsidy

Ⅲ. NUMBER OF SHCOLARSHIPS:
30 scholarships for the academic year of 2010/2011

Ⅳ. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1. Applicants should send the Application Form and other required materials to the Recruitment Office of the School of International Education (SIE). Application Forms can be downloaded from www.csc.edu.cn or http://www2.scut.edu.cn/sie/scholarship/index.html
2. The Admission Office will forward the application materials of qualified applicants to relevant schools and may receive the assessed and commented materials shortly thereafter.
3. The Scholarship Council of SCUT will short-list the qualified applicants for the scholarship.
4. SCUT will report the results to the Chinese Scholarship Council for final approval.
5. The results will be publicized on the website of SIE in March.
6. The Admission Office will send the Admission Notice and Visa application form (JW201) to successful applicants by the end of May.

Ⅴ. APPLICATION MATERIALS
The applicants must fill in and provide the following materials truly and correctly.

1. Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship in Chinese or English.
2. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy).
3. Applicants studying to earn their Master’s or Doctorate degree need to provide relevant notarized transcripts.
4. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 500 words).
5. Applicants must submit two reference letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
6. Applicants for music are requested to submit one cassette recording of the applicants’ own work. Applicants for fine arts must submit six color photographs of personal works (two sketches, two color paintings and two other works).
7. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form must be filled in English.

Note:
(1) All documents mentioned should be in either Chinese or English.

1. Certificate and transcripts should be in notarized translations in Chinese or English.
