Why do you need to prepare for your English
English has been described as “the language of opportunity” and I think you would agree. If you are preparing to go overseas for any reasons, you will have a better chance of getting around if you know English. If you think English is hard, then you are not alone. Still, there are many reasons for you to learn English well:
- ENGLISH will open up more opportunities for you
Being able to speak English allows you to communicate effectively in numerous countries, and this opens up lots of possibilities for you in terms of the countries you could choose to seek work in one day – not to mention travel to as a tourist.
- ENGLISH gives you access to some of the world’s best universities
English is widely regarded as the language of higher education. Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and MIT are just a few of the famous universities that occupy the lofty heights of the top of the world education league tables, and you’ll need to speak English fluently for access to any of these, as they’re all English-speaking.
- ENGLISH gives you wider access to knowledge
Did you know that 55% of the world’s web pages are written in English? This absolutely dwarfs that of any other language, with the next most widely used language on the internet being Russian (which constitutes just 6% of pages). Knowledge of English therefore allows you to tap into far more of the world’s intellectual resources.
ALFALINK English Course is on the move to spread miracles to the children. We are inviting everyone to join this event to help us to build a library for the unfortunate children. According to our vision “To improve the education quality of this nation”, we believe that we can create and polish a wonderful, competitive, and critical young generation through education. Therefore, we need to introduce a good reading habit, and bear in mind that being able to read alone is not enough.
Upon knowing the research done by John W. Miller about “World’s Most Literate Nations”, though Indonesia ranks second-last, this fact should not discourage our motivation to create a better Indonesia. Adding to that, another research conducted by UNESCO shows that Indonesians’ reading interest is only 0,001% over 1000 people, which should be the trigger of our motivation to improve the literacy of this young generation. In order to realize our dream, we need to facilitate our children with an adequate reading facility, which will be followed by various activities to revive the reading interest of our children.
In this event, we would like to invite everyone to join and donate their new or used book (good condition) to the nearest ALFALINK offices in your city. It’s an honor to be able to partner up with people who share our vision to create a wonderful, talented, and critical young generation.
“These kinds of literate behaviors are critical to the success of individuals and nations in the knowledge-based economics that define our global future.” -John W. Miller, president of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT
